Mr. Oatey is Chairman and CEO of Oatey Co., a privately held manufacturer of plumbing products with plants located in California, Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas and Mexico. Distribution facilities are located in nine states.
Mr. Oatey serves on the board of directors of the J.M. Smucker Company, as well as several private company boards.
Mr. Oatey is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Great Lakes Science Center. In addition, he serves on the boards of The MetroHealth System, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland Institute of Music, and State Troopers of Ohio. He is an elder of Bay Presbyterian Church and a past chairman of the Campaign for Wittenberg, the University from which he received his A.B degree in Liberal Arts.
Mr. Oatey was the recipient of the Recovery Resources Bronze Key Award in 2001, and the Honoree for Prevent Blindness Ohio in 2002.
