William Summers

Founding Partner


Mr. Summers currently serves as Chairman of McDonald & Co. Investments, Inc., a position he has held since 1995. Mr. Summers joined McDonald & Company as an intern in 1971 and was named a General Partner in 1975. In 1980 he was named partner-in-charge of Municipal Trading and Underwriting. Four years later he became Executive Vice President, Institutional Fixed Income Sales and in 1988 was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of McDonald & Co. Investments, Inc. In 1989 Mr. Summers was named President of McDonald & Co. Securities, Inc and McDonald & Co. Investments, Inc and in 1994 was named Chief Executive Officer of both groups. In 1998 he became an Executive Vice President of KeyCorp, Chairman of Key Capital Partners and a member of the KeyCorp Management Committee, positions he held until 2000.

Mr. Summers has been active in a wide range of security industry activities and is currently a member of the Board of Executives of the New York Stock Exchange. He served on the National Association of Securities Dealers Board of Governors from 1989-1992 and was elected Chairman of the Board in 1991. Mr. Summers also served as a member of the NASDAQ Stock Market Board of Directors from 1992-1994 and as Chairman of the Board in 1994.

Mr. Summers serves on the boards of directors of Penton Media, Inc., Wilson Greatbatch Technologies, Inc. and RPM International, Inc. He is also a director of Actron Manufacturing Company, and an Advisory Board member of Molded Fiber Glass Companies. He is a past member of Young Presidents Organization and a current member of World Presidents Organization and Chief Executives Organization.

Mr. Summers is active in a host of civic and charitable activities. He currently serves on the boards of Baldwin-Wallace College, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland Development Advisors, Leadership Cleveland, the National Conference for Community and Justice, State Troopers of Ohio, United Way Services and as President of "The 50 Club" of Cleveland.

Mr. Summers received his B.A. in Finance from Baldwin-Wallace College.
